Tasting Note: A gorgeous bright golden colour with an intense nose of candied citrus, mango, apricot patisserie, dried rose petals and spice. On the palate, the wine is mineral and taut, with a tart, gently bitter edge not often found in Quarts de Chaume. A complex and original sweet wine — beautifully crafted, deeply expressive, and utterly refined.
Background: La Martinière lies at the foot of the Chaume hillside on its most stony section, composed of sand and schist soils. The south-west facing slope (30–40%) features 200 narrow rows, yielding concentrated grapes that ripen early — with botrytis setting in rapidly. This unique site lends the wine both power and precision.
Serving: Cold — but not too cold. 10–12°C is perfect to let the aromatics shine without muting the wine’s complexity.
