Tasting Note: There is a strong liquorice note, which is typical of Cabernet Franc on schist. On first opening there can often be a whiff of reduction but this blows away with a bit of aeration revealing gorgeous fruit and lots of graphite on the finish.

Background: Les Tailles is a beautiful plot of old vine Cabernet Franc planted in the 1950s and yields a very concentrated wine. The grapes are ‘infused’ for three weeks with no punch downs or pump overs – the idea is to have a wine with a long finish and fine texture. Two thirds are aged in tank and the rest in 500l barrels.
