Collection: Château Thivin
Château Thivin is the benchmark domaine in the Côte de Brouilly. It is the oldest estate in the cru, dating back to the 15th Century.
There is such rich history tied to this domaine; Zaccharie Geoffray purchased the château with its two hectares of land at auction in 1877. His son Claude began to expand the domaines holdings, and his son, also named Claude, was instrumental in the creation of the Côte de Brouilly appellation. Over the years the family continued to promote the appellation and received numerous influential artists and journalists to the Château.
Thivin’s Côte de Brouilly parcels are predominantly south-facing with an average vine age of 50 years. The individual vineyards are harvested and vinified separately which isolates the unique terroir expressions. The wines are made by traditional whole-cluster fermentations, the grapes are then transferred to tanks by gravity without being crushed and then into large oak foudres before bottling.
