Collection: Axelle Machard de Gramont

Domaine Bertrand et Axelle Machard de Gramont is a relatively small estate originating from Nuits-Saint-Georges. It farms 6ha in total, located mainly in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, but with plots in Vosne-Romanée and Vergy in the Hautes-Côtes as well.

The domaine was established in 1983 by Bertrand Machard de Gramont, Axelle’s father, when his family domaine was divided into three parts. Bertrand had until then worked at the family estate after a time at Domaine de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny.

Axelle Machard de Gramont returned to Burgundy in 2004 to take on the vigneronne challenge. She is now running the estate, with support from her dad.

She has made a few stylistic changes in terms of winemaking and since 2018 the wines spend less time in oak with 12-14 months in cask followed by six months in tank, giving the wines more energy and lively, upfront fruit. Her wines are detailed and precise and deliver that elusive, hedonistic fragrance Pinot is so adored for.
