Meursault 1er cru Les Gouttes d'Or, 2017 | Côte de Beaune, Burgundy
Region: Côte de Beaune, Burgundy
Tasting Note: 2017 is a brilliant vintage for white Burgundy and this demonstrates the energy, precision and classic nature of this year. This is drinking beautifully, even in youth and is fresh, chiselled with notes of fresh pâtisserie, wet stone and ripe citrus.
Background: Gouttes d'Or, meaning drops of gold, is the furthest north of the top premier cru vineyards. The wines can be quite compact and sturdy, like Porusots, but with age they reveal great complexity and nuance. Aged on its lees for 12 months in oak barrels, no more than 20% new.
Serving: Cold - but not too cold! (10–12°C).
