Region: Anjou Loire

Grape: Chenin Blanc

Farming: Certified organic

Tasting Note: The nose is dominated by white fruits and spicy notes. In the mouth there is a slightly honeyed flavour with a generous, smooth mid-palate and mineral finish. There is a pleasant, slightly bitter character which reveals itself after the wine has had time to open up. It’s both powerful and airy - in the Emmanueal Ogereau signature style!

Background: This is the first vintage for this wine - a dry wine made from the traditionally sweet wine terroir in Quarts de Chaume. Emmauel believes that his greatest terroirs of sweet wines are also the greatest terroirs of dry wines. With this wine he  wants to express the direct essence of this unique  terroir, without the expression of Botrytis.

La Martinière is located at the foot of the Chaume hillside on its most stony part, on sand and schist soils. It’s a south-west facing plot made up of 200 small rows planted on a full slope (30 to 40%)

Serving: decant or open in advance. A bit warmer than straight out of the fridge cold (12–14°C).
