Domaine Nicolas Maillet

Nicolas Maillet took over his family's vines in 1999 and has farmed organically since 2010 (certified by Ecocert) and biodynamic practises have been implemented since 2013.

The vineyards have been in the Maillet family for four generations but between 1928 to 1998 fruit was sold to the local co-op. When Nicolas took over he returned to the family’s early tradition of estate-bottled wines

Old vines on chalky, limestone soils on eastern-facing slopes yield very mineral, high acid wines - not normally associated with the region.

In addition, long, cool fermentations (up to 18 months) in tank yield energetic, complex wines that are immensely pure and intense. Minimal sulphur is used, with total sulphur levels around 40-50 mg.
